ACMI Properties, Exploration Park developer, taps local firms for 207-acre project starting soon (RENDERINGS)

Houston, Texas – June 5, 2025 – ACMI Properties, a national industrial real estate developer focused on mission-critical aerospace and defense infrastructure, has announced the addition of key partners to its groundbreaking Exploration Park development near NASA’s Johnson Space Center.

The project—which has already attracted industry attention for its vision to support commercial space exploration and national security—has entered its next phase with the engagement of leading engineering and architectural firms. The new partners include Kimley-Horn, LJA Engineering, Powers Brown Architecture, and Kirksey Architecture, each bringing specialized expertise to further the development of ACMI’s ambitious 240-acre master-planned campus.

Located in Houston’s Clear Lake area, Exploration Park is strategically positioned adjacent to NASA’s main gateway to human spaceflight. The development aims to serve as a collaborative hub for aerospace, defense, robotics, and other space-adjacent companies looking to innovate in proximity to federal space initiatives.

“This project is more than a business park—it’s a launchpad for the future of aerospace,” said ACMI Chief Development Officer Jonathan Smiley. “By bringing together top-tier engineering and design firms, we’re creating a space where private enterprise can partner with public vision to unlock what’s next for space, security, and innovation.”

The announcement follows ACMI’s recent unveiling of a development team that includes Gensler, Griffin Partners, and Walter P Moore. With the newest firms on board, ACMI continues to build a consortium capable of transforming Houston into a national leader in commercial space infrastructure.

For companies seeking a front-row seat to NASA collaboration and access to Houston’s skilled talent pipeline, Exploration Park presents a rare opportunity to operate within a purpose-built innovation ecosystem.

More announcements, including renderings and tenant partnerships, are expected later this summer.
